The Sherzad Method
Our data driven calibration philosophy. Why we road log every car and why we never use generic canned tunes.
The Problem with Canned Tunes
In the world of ECU tuning, there is a practice that has become far too common: the use of generic "canned" tunes. These are pre-made calibration files that are applied to vehicles without consideration for the specific modifications, fuel quality, or condition of the engine. They are convenient for the tuner, but they represent a compromise that we at Sherzad Haus will not make.
A canned tune is essentially a one-size-fits-all solution. It assumes your engine is in perfect condition, that your fuel is of consistent quality, and that you have no modifications. None of these assumptions are true for most vehicles that come through our workshop. Every car is different. Every engine has its own quirks. A tune that works perfectly on one M3 might be suboptimal on another, even if they are the same model and year.
Why Logged Data Beats Single Pulls
Data Over Assumptions
The Sherzad Method is built on a simple principle: we do not assume. We measure. Every vehicle that enters our workshop undergoes a thorough diagnostic process before we touch a single calibration table. We read the original ECU file, check for fault codes, log baseline sensor data, and assess the overall health of the engine.
This baseline data tells us what we are working with. Is the engine burning oil? Are the fuel trims healthy? Is the turbo functioning correctly? These questions cannot be answered by applying a generic map. They require real data from the real vehicle.
Baseline Diagnostics
Logged Data is Not Optional
Some tuning shops will tell you that data logging is unnecessary for a Stage 1 calibration. They will tell you that their canned tune is safe because it falls within manufacturer parameters. We disagree.
Logged data is where we verify our work. When we upload a custom calibration to your ECU, we run the car under load and capture boost pressure, air-fuel ratio, exhaust gas temperatures, knock correction, and dozens of other parameters in real time. When validating our custom calibrations, we capture all parameters on road to ensure it translates perfectly to real world driving.
The logs tell us whether the tune is functioning correctly. They tell us whether we are hitting our target power levels safely. They tell us whether any adjustments are needed before the car leaves our workshop. We will not hand you the keys until the data confirms everything is operating within safe limits.
Why Logged Data First
Road Validation: The Final Step
Controlled environment diagnostics are only one part of the equation. The engine is under load, but the vehicle is not experiencing the real world conditions it will encounter on the road.
That is why we road log every single car. After the calibration is in, we take your vehicle out for a thorough road test. We evaluate throttle response, boost behaviour, shift quality, and overall driveability. We listen for unusual sounds. We feel for any irregularities in power delivery.
This is the step that separates Sherzad Haus from the competition. Most shops will run a single test and call it done. We go further because we understand that a tune must perform perfectly in all road conditions. We validate your calibration because your safety and satisfaction are non-negotiable.
Street Safe Performance
We do not build race cars. We build street cars. This distinction is fundamental to our philosophy. A race car is designed to operate at the absolute limit for short periods. A street car must operate safely and reliably for years, through traffic, in all weather conditions, and at varying loads.
Our calibrations are designed with this in mind. We push the envelope of performance, but we never push past the point where reliability becomes compromised. We leave headroom. We build calibrations that can be driven hard on the weekend and relied upon during the week.
This is what we mean when we say "street safe performance." It is not a compromise. It is a commitment to building a tune that delivers real, measurable gains while maintaining the durability that you expect from a daily driver.
The Sherzad Alpha Commitment
Every tune that leaves our workshop represents our commitment to three core principles:
- 1.Custom Calibration: No canned tunes. Every map is built specifically for your vehicle.
- 2.Data Validation: Precision data logging and road testing on every single car.
- 3.Road Testing: Real world validation to ensure the tune feels as good as the numbers suggest.
This is The Sherzad Method. It is not the easiest way to tune a car. It is not the cheapest. But it is the right way, and it is the only way we do business.
